Montana or Bust…
If you know us, you know, Ray is a serious car guy. We have a fleet of vehicles that run the range from utility and function to purely fun and collectable. So one morning, while looking at coffee, he sends me a screenshot of a car he’s looking at. I didn’t get too wound up about it, well, because he car shops daily. Lots and lots of car shopping. Not necessarily BUYING but shopping. And there is not much I like less than car shopping.
So when he asked a few days later how long I could be away from the farm, I knew he had made a deal.
With Memorial Weekend approaching, I knew that it might be a good time to get out of town for a few extended days, so he booked us flights and told me we were flying to Montana.
We headed out Thursday afternoon, and after almost missing our connecting flight, being offered almost $1000 to give up our seats (we declined) and landed in Missoula Thursday night around 10 p.m.
At the front desk suggestion, we Ubered over to Paul’s Pancake Palace for a delicious Dutch style pancake, complete with the lemons and powdered sugar. YUMM! Then we headed to the dealership. They had the car fluffed and buffed, and indeed, it was shiny and beautiful. Side note- This was the most animal mounts on display inside the dealership that I had seen outside of a Bass Pro Shops!
After getting the car deal done, they slapped a paper tag on it and away we went! We headed to Columbia Falls, MT first, to tour Glacier National Park.

We made reservations from the road at Wonderstone Hotel. We were texted a room access code, and upon arrival found a super quaint and adorable old school motel than had been renovated into the perfect place to stay for the night.
Due to congestion in the park, GNP has now instituted a piltot car program from 6a to 3p for Going to the Sun Road. We decided that that was not something that fit our travel style so we waited until about 4p to head into the park. Unfortunatly, GTTS road is still closed on the alpine region. So we could only go about 15 miles, which gave us a few pretty spots along the river and a beautiful beach on the side of the lake to view.
We will return another day, because, IMO, unless you are biking or hiking, GTTS road must be the main attraction.
Below are some of the pics we did get in glacier, and if you scroll to then end, you can see what we bought.
